Program Overview

This accredited Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography/Ultrasound Diploma program is designed for individuals seeking a fulfilling career in the field of medical sonography.

This well-established 18-month (78-week) program covers general anatomy, cardiovascular anatomy and pathology, cross-sectional anatomy, instrumentation principles, echocardiography theory and scanning techniques, ECG, patient care, ethics, and professionalism. Upon successful completion, graduates are eligible to sit for the Sonography Canada national registry examinations.


Admission Requirements

Applicants must have a minimum Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with completed biology and math courses, or an equivalent qualification.

Preference is given to candidates who hold a two-year or higher allied healthcare credential in a patient-care related field. This may include, but is not limited to, medical radiography, registered nursing, respiratory therapy, occupational therapy, or emergency medical services.

Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline, or an international degree equivalent to a Canadian or U.S. bachelor’s degree, are also preferred.


Additional Requirements

A criminal record police check must be submitted within 120 days of program start.
Medical clearances such as TB testing and Hepatitis B documentation are required.
Proof of immunization must be provided within 120 days of beginning the program.
First Aid and CPR Level HCP (Healthcare Provider) certification is required prior to clinical placement.


Clinical Practice

The college will arrange a 22-week clinical placement in hospitals or diagnostic clinics, allowing students to gain hands-on, real-world experience that supports future employment opportunities.
